Research and Technological Development

The research is the heart of the Brazilian Network of Human Milk Banks (rBLH-BR). The paradigm shifting of the collection, processing and distribution model of human milk in 1985 came from investments in scientific studies and technological innovation, in order to generate unique technology, low cost and high efficiency.

Since then, a group of researchers from the National Institute of Women, Children and Adolescents Health Fernandes Figueira (IFF / Fiocruz), together with other Fiocruz’ units, has been articulating solutions to the problems that were detected and also strengthening the policy of Breastfeeding in the Brazilian Unified Health System (SUS).

In this sense, strategies were formulated to ensure the expansion and qualification process of rBLH-BR, a fact that expands Fiocruz's commitment to the generation of innovations for the sector.

In addition, several Brazilian teaching and research institutions have been researching human milk banks. In this section, you'll find researchers, research groups, scientific events, and more. Check it!
