The Quality Program - Proficiency in Human Milk Banks is an initiative of the Ministry of Health, developed by the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation and the Ministry of Health / SAS / DAPE / Technical Area of ​​Child Health, with the objective of promoting conditions that allow to cerficate the quality of products and services under the responsibility of the Human Milk Banks in every country.

The participation of human milk banks in this program means a continuous improvement process through the monitoring of analytical performance, thus enabling a review of their practices and processes.

Combined with internal control, process control and management committed to quality, it promotes a deep knowledge of the processes, guaranteeing the reliability of the results. The technical content of the Program, elaboration and operationalization, are the responsibility of the National Reference Center for Human Milk Banks of the National Institute of Women, Children and Adolescents Fernandes Figueira (IFF / Fiocruz), with the support of Control-Lab for the provision of the material needed for the proficiency tests.

In partnership with the National Institute of Quality Control in Health (INCQS / Fiocruz), the proficiency test is in its second stage with the participation of the State Reference Centers in human milk banks with the forecast of scale extended to the entire network.
